In 1968, the Individual Development (ID) program was designed to develop many useful
skills, like leadership, communication, networking, negotiation and interviewing.
Its success continues today, affording women the same opportunity to heighten awareness of the
special issues women must deal with in achieving their goals. ID also helps develop strategies
for personal, professional, and community advancement and change that earmark a woman for
guaranteed success in all aspects of one's life.
Individual Development also offers an opportunity to promote BPW, recruit members, and provide
a community service to non-BPW members through the course material presented.
Attendees have the opportunity to support one another by critiquing public speaking
skills and offering supportive, constructive advice to help improve needed skills
and boost confidence. In the communications segment, attendees have an opportunity to
represent the local organization at the regional speaking competition-winners
continue up the ladder to national.
The program is supported by BPW/USA, providing the tools to offer a wide variety of
training classes. Improve yourself while assisting others in this unique, yet
rewarding endeavor. Contact the Committee Chair for further details.
