On a national level, BPW has a public policy team in Washington DC. They are
our voice for Equal Pay, Workplace Advancement, Pension Reform, Better Childcare
and Elder Care, Social Security benefiting women and families, and many more.
BPW/USA works hard to keep you informed on important legislative activity - which
has the power to hurt or help your future opportunities. This, in turn, means at
a local, grass roots level we have the responsibility to share national's
information with our members and forward local issues that have a profound impact
up through our region to state and national.
Additionally, if there is pressing legislation that needs our support, we need
to exercise our voice through our local, state, and federal representatives via
email, letters, and phone calls. This action validates the efforts of many women,
who are no longer with us, worked hard to change the run-of-the-mill political
environment dominated by men. Their success now offers us a voice, a voting
voice, in the political arena where we can make a difference. With all members
working together, we can change the mindset of our government officials and better
our lives, the lives of our daughters, and our daughters' daughters for
generations to come.
The Legislative Committee provides the legislative updates and issues affecting
working women today and in the future by providing events/news at our meetings
and in our newsletters. Contact the Committee Chair for further details.
